- இந்த அறிக்கையின்படி, உலகிலேயே ஆண், பெண் சமத்துவம் வழங்குவதில் ஐஸ்லாந்து தொடர்ந்து முதல் இடத்தை தக்கவைத்துள்ளது. பின்லாந்து, நார்வே, நியூசிலாந்து மற்றும் ஸ்வீடன் நாடுகள் அடுத்தடுத்த இடங்களில் உள்ளன. இதில் இந்தியாவிற்கு 135வது இடம் கிடைத்துள்ளது.
- இந்தியாவிற்கு பின் சுமார் 11 நாடுகள் மட்டுமே பட்டியலில் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளன. இந்தியாவிற்கும் கீழான தரவரிசையில் ஆப்கானிஸ்தான், பாகிஸ்தான், காங்கோ, ஈரான் மற்றும் சாத் நாடுகள் உள்ளன.
- இந்தியா பாலின சமத்துவத்தை கொரோனா தொற்று ஒரு தலைமுறைக்கு பின்னுக்கு தள்ளிவிட்டதாகவும், பலவீனமான மீட்சியானது உலகளவில் இந்தியாவை மோசமாக்குவதாகவும் உலக பொருளாதாரர மன்றம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
- கடந்த 50 ஆண்டுகளாக மாநில தலைவர்களாக பெண்கள் பணியாற்றிய ஆண்டுகளின் பங்கு குறைந்து வருவதும் ஒரு காரணமாகும்.

- India ranks 135th in terms of gender equality. The World Economic Forum released its 2022 Gender Equality Gap report in Geneva.
- According to the report, Iceland consistently ranks first in the world for gender equality. Finland, Norway, New Zealand and Sweden are next. India has got 135th place in this.
- Only about 11 countries feature in the list after India. Below India are Afghanistan, Pakistan, Congo, Iran and Chad.
- The World Economic Forum has said that the coronavirus pandemic has set India’s gender equality back a generation, and that a weak recovery will make India worse off globally.
- One reason is the declining share of years that women have served as heads of state over the past 50 years.

- Scheme for Transformational and Advanced Research in Sciences (STARS) for promoting translational, India-centric research in sciences, to be implemented and managed by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
- Scheme for Translational and Advanced Research in Science (STARS) scheme was launched on the National Science Day, 28th February 2019 by MHRD (now renamed as Ministry of Education) worth Rs. 250 crore for funding 500 science projects.
With the key objective of supporting socially relevant research, the following six basic thrust areas have been identified

Objectives
- To fund science projects which are translational, i.e. which have direct implications for the progress of the country, through a competitive process in an open and transparent manner

- Scheme for Trans-disciplinary Research for India’s Developing Economy (STRIDE) aims to promote an innovative culture for trans-disciplinary research especially in universities and colleges.
- Scheme for Trans-disciplinary Research for India’s Developing Economy (STRIDE) plans to add new disciplines for research support with a thrust on research capacity building, trans-disciplinary research facilitating India’s developing economy.
- The specific focus of the scheme is to support high-impact research in thrust areas of humanities and human sciences including arts, Indian languages, culture and knowledge systems through networking of experts from institutions and organisations across India. An advisory committee has been set up by the UGC to oversee the entire scheme.
- STRIDE shall support basic, applied and transformational action research for India’s developing economy to attain Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which will facilitate overall human development.
STRIDE will support the following innovative research projects
- Socially relevant
- Locally need-based
- Nationally important
- Globally significant
Objectives
- To identify young talent, strengthen research culture, build capacity, promote innovation and support trans-disciplinary research for India’s developing economy and national development.

- The PRABHASS is a national digital portal to continuously engage with Global Indian S&T community with collaboration from all major Science Ministries and the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
- The Pravasi Bharatiya Academic and Scientific Sampark (PRABHASS) is an initiative of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to develop a database and a virtual platform to bring on board the Global Indian S&T Community to address the Indian societal challenges / problems.
- The virtual platform, a portal, is named PRABHASS which means a ray of light, and is an acronym for “Pravasi Bharatiya Academic and Scientific Sampark – Integrating Indian Diaspora with the Mother Land”.
- PRABHASS is being developed with collaborative effort of all major Scientific Ministries / Departments and the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
Vision
- Serve as National Digital Platform to effectively collaborate with Global Indian S&T Community for collectively promoting inclusive growth in India, strengthening Indian innovation ecosystem and contributing towards nation building.
Objective
- To invite and encourage Indian Diaspora to come forward and join hands with India to help solve challenges being faced by Indian people thereby making an impact on society at large.
VAIBHAV Summit
- The Global Summit of Indian Overseas Researchers and Academicians, Vaishwik Bharatiya Vaigyanik Summit (VAIBHAV), organized in October – November 2020 deliberated on 18 broad areas (verticals) and several sub-verticals under each of the verticals for over a month.
- These deliberations were aligned with national goals and priorities of research in India. PRABHASS platform broadly encompasses the outcomes of VAIBHAV.
Contribute to Motherland
- Through PRABHASS the scientific Diaspora can continue to work together and collaborate with Indian scientists through discussion fora and for value R&D projects, trainings, webinars, fellowships, etc. aimed at addressing the identified challenges and problems through S&T interventions.
- This effort is also aimed at developing mechanisms for participation of Indian Diaspora working in top universities, R&D organizations across the world, to further enhance the knowledge-base of Indian Research and Academic Institutions.
- PRABHASS would provide the Diaspora yet another opportunity to connect with the motherland and contribute towards improving the lives of the common man in India as well as build long lasting linkages with the fellow Indian scientists.
